Taking cues from the original house, the Piedmont addition is sympathetic in its details and overall appearance. From the windows to a new cornice, old and new form a harmonious whole.

Through subtle transitions, the apparent size of the addition is reduced, too. As the roofline is stepped down, walls are set back in stages. Similarly in the rear yard, terraced planting areas offset the perceived height of retaining walls.
